If You Are Starting a New Business, Ask Yourself These Questions and Very Thoughtfully Answer them in Writing.

Because all of your marketing materials are designed to increase your confidence and ability, develop your business further, and earn you the confidence of your potential customers, they must contain the correct message and look professional. Your company personnel, your company envelopes, your company advertising and marketing materials, and every contact point that your company has with the public, must be professional and make a positive statement and effectively perform.

Make sure you are doing everything you can to have that competitive edge!

Questions:

(To some of these questions, your answer will be, “I have no idea.” That’s OK. The purpose of this exercise is to have you think about these points a bit before we actually meet.)

1 What is the mission of your business? Do you have a mission statement? (This is the Why)
2 Does your business have a statement of excellence? (This is the How)

Do you know who your specific market is? Do you know what your message should be to effectively reach your specific market?

Now, write down ALL your ideas for advertising tools and marketing strategies you would like to use in your company. List your ideas in categories and make sure to include tools such as brochures, web sites, etc. you think you’ll need and write down why.

Remember, using the correct advertising tools and marketing strategies is meant to take your business from a building stage, to growth, to consistent growth, and eventually to a Big Success!

5 Next, consider different scenarios of daily business life such as answering telephone calls, walk-in customers, meetings with potential clients, bidding on a project, etc. If you were able to use all the tools and strategies on your list, do you believe your business would be equipped well enough to get your message to your market, gain their confidence, complete the sale, and serve your clients well?

If you do feel your company would be well equipped and that your company would be making a positive, professional statement, counsel with the rest of your team regarding your ideas. Carefully record their feedback. (It’s always extremely important to get input from your current key people, so don't skip this vital step.)

Now for the biggest question of all, are you prepared to do what it takes to get the tools you’ll need to properly, powerfully and professionally grow your business and become a big success?
